A whopping nineteen teams competed this week, so it was a busy, busy quiz as usual. Standard was higher than ever with a 3-way tie for first place.
This ‘orrible lot pictured here won the tie-breaker by knowing that the answer to “What year was the Big Issue first printed?” was 1991. They then went on to pick the right envelope, the lucky buggers.
The jackpot question drawn at random was: “Who was the music brains behind The Wombles?” I’ve since discovered this fella also discovered Katie Melua, produced the original ‘Lilac Wine’ which you’ll know as a Jeff Buckley song, and wrote and produced ‘Bright Eyes,’ the theme to Watership Down. Knowing the gentleman in question won this lot £110 quid.
Think you can beat ‘em? Come down to The Fox next Monday and show us what you got.

The Monday Night Club Quiz at the Fox & Firkin was won last night by the youngest team to feature seriously in our league table. ‘The Stage’ is made up of long-standing regulars Will and friends, and regularly includes ex and current members of the bar staff. The Stage were loathe to gamble a bottle of their favourite tipple, Jagermeister, with the Jackpot sitting at just £50. And who can blame them. Cheers for the free shot, team!
The 2nd quiz league is coming to a close. With two weeks to go, professional quizzers Johnny & The Moondogs (barred from four quizzes for being “too good”) are 4 points ahead of their much younger (but very studious) rivals California Longboard Comp – nothing in it and very tough to call.
Next week’s Jackpot is £75.
